Sacrospinous ligament

  • The sacrospinous ligament (also sacrospinal ligament, small sacrosciatic ligament or anterior sacrosciatic ligament; latin: ligamentum sacrospinale) is a fibrous joint or syndesmosis of the human pelvis, one of the vertebropelvic ligaments.

The sacrospinous ligament extends from the outer edge of the sacrum to the iliac spine.

The sacrospinous ligament completes the greater sciatic notch into the greater sciatic foramen, and together with the sacrotuberous ligament it completes the lesser sciatic notch into the lesser sciatic foramen.
