Occipital sinus

  • The occipital sinus (latin: sinus occipitalis) is an unpaired venous sinus and the smallest of the dural venous sinuses that lies on the inner surface of the occipital bone.

The occipital sinus extends from the foramen magnum along the posterior margin of the falx cerebelli to the confluence of the sinuses.

The occipital sinus receives tributaries from the foramen magnum and internal vertebral venous plexuses.
