Navicular bone

  • The navicular bone (latin: os naviculare) is a boat-shaped bone located on the top and inner side of the foot. The navicular bone participates in linking the ankle bone (talus) to the cuneiform bones of the foot.

The posterior side of the navicular bone is concave and has an articular surface, which articulates with the head of the talus.

The anterior side of the navicular bone is convex and has three articular surfaces for articulation with the three cuneiform bones.
