Medial malleolar branches

  • The medial malleolar branches (latin: rami malleolares mediales) are branches that arise from the posterior tibial artery.

The medial malleolar branches of the posterior tibial artery turn around the medial malleolus and together with the medial anterior malleolar artery from the anterior tibial artery  and the tarsal medial arteries from the dorsalis pedis artery form the medial malleolar network.

The medial malleolar branches supply the medial malleolus, the ankle joint and the tarsal bones.
