Inferior tibiofibular joint

  • The inferior tibiofibular joint (also distal tibiofibular joint, inferior tibiofibular syndesmosis, distal tibiofibular syndesmosis, latin: syndesmosis tibiofibularis) is a fibrous joint between the fibular notch of tibia and distal epiphysis of the tibia.

The inferior tibiofibular joint is reinforced by strong ligaments. These are the following: the anterior and posterior tibiofibular ligaments, transverse and interosseous ligaments.
