Anterior tibial recurrent artery

  • The anterior tibial recurrent artery (latin: arteria recurrens tibialis anterior) is a branch of the anterior tibial artery.

The anterior tibial recurrent artery ascends to the popliteal fossa and terminates in the patellar network, where it forms anastomosis with the inferior medial and superior medial genicular arteries, the inferior lateral and superior lateral genicular arteries, the descending genicular artery, the descending branch of the lateral femoral circumflex artery and the posterior tibial recurrent artery.

The anterior tibial recurrent artery contributes to supplying the knee joint.
