Anconeus

  • The anconeus (also anconeus muscle, latin: musculus anconeus) is a small, pyramidal shaped muscle of the posterior muscle group of the upper arm.

    Origin

    The anconeus originates from the posterior surface of the lateral epicondyle of the humerus.

    Insertion

    The anconeus inserts onto the posterior upper surface of the ulna.

    Action

    The main function of the anconeus muscle is extension of the forearm.

    Innervation

    The anconeus is innervated by the radial nerve.
