Abductor digiti minimi

  • The abductor digiti minimi (also abductor digiti minimi muscle, abductor digiti quinti, latin: musculus abductor digiti minimi) is a muscle of the sole of the foot.

    The abductor digiti minimi originates from the calcaneal tuberosity and the base of the fifth metatarsal bone. The abductor digiti minimi inserts at the base of the proximal phalanx of the fifth digit (also known as little toe).

    The main function of the abductor digiti minimi is to abduct the little toe.
